The Gulf Opportunity Zone Act of 2005 (GO Zone) was passed by Congress to help the affected counties in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana rebuild after Katrina, Rita, and Wilma. There are provisions in the GO Zone Act that may help you get a lower interest rate on your next house or reward you for investing in commercial real estate or residential rental real estate by allowing you to take a fifty percent depreciation in the first year or by financing the project via tax-exempt Gulf Opportunity Zone Bonds.
GO Zone Investments--Investors, call or email me to get started. I can help you begin the process of discovering if you qualify. (Always consult with your lawyer or accountant for the final answers.) For those that qualify, I'll help you find the right property or properties for your needs. Builders and developers, if you have property that qualifies, contact me.
Non-GO Zone Investments--Not all investors, or all properties, qualify under the GO Zone Act. Need to make a 10-31 exchange? What to trade property for something along the coast? What to invest in residential rental or commercial properties? Give me a call or email. I'm ready to help.
THE GO ZONE FORUMS--There are none scheduled for the foreseeable future. It's becoming very difficult to find accountants and lawyers willing to speak on the subject. If you would like to be a speaker at a GO Zone forum, call, and we will get you scheduled. Otherwise, I am available to be of as much assistance as I can, but always consult with your lawyer or accountant.
